fouled plugs

1) bike running on 1 cyl.
2) changed plugs, bike good. running lean though plugs were very wet with fuel 3) tryed to adjust idle, turned idle screw clockwise 1 turn, nothing
4) bike wouldnt start. removed carb bowl, clean, sprayed gumout through air mixture hole, seated screw and backed it out 1 and 1/4 turns. bike wont start.
new plugs are wet with black fuel?
more new plugs?

I am assuming this is a single carb Dream.

You say the bike is running lean but that the plugs are wet / black. Those are two opposite ends of the spectrum.

Is this the first time you have run the bike or was it running OK at some time previously?

Have you gone through a complete tuneup routine and checked all of the settings / jet sizes in the carb?

Hmm sounds like something got down stream and gummed or block something.

Yes I think the same if you had to seal the tank and work on the petcock then its time to get into the carb and clean it out now could be that the needle and seat for the float is not working. Be sure to check all of the jets and if you can soak it over night. Look at your gaskets you may need to replace them A kit can be found online for gaskets I would not use the jets and such as they are not correct. Others on her can advise as to the jet and needle valve I just clean mine and use the same set.
