Well my barn find rings true as far as the old gas issues inside the carb. .... which I expected .... what is the best and easiest way to clean it up ... the needle is stuck and I cant take the carb off the bike ...yet.... the tank was almost full of fuel ...so the tank will clean up fine and the peacock looks new ....

There is no way to thoroughly clean a carb on the bike. A teardown and soaking is the only way. If the slide is hung. I'd pull the cable with it and soak it until it frees.

A good 24 hour soak submerged in Pine-Sol will do a lot.

And if you dip it in a pot full on a hot plate it won't take nearly that long.
