Help reviving ca77

Post by GrandmasDream » Tue Aug 04, 2015 7:20 pm

So, I got a 64 305. My grandmother passed away left it to my dad whom drove it and what not until about 20ish years ago, he said it caught fire. The bike has sat in the garage with no fuel in it since. So I recently decided to give this thing a shot. I know almost nothing about carburetors, but I am mechanically inclined and have worked on a lot of fuel injected vehicles. So that brings me to my problem. When I turn the bike to on or res before starting I guess the overflow at the bottom of the carb drains all the fuel out of a line onto the ground. So the question is where do I start? Is it most likely a bowl issue or... Also does anyone know where I can get a repair manual for this bike?

Sounds like the needle valve is worn out or the floats aren't floating. You need a carb rebuild kit. They are out there. Google it & you'll find them.

Thank you I will see what I can find. Do you know where to get a service manual like a Haynes manual or something equivalent for this bike aswell?

Grandma
Check on Bill Silvers website for vintage Honda Restoration. Looks to be about $70.

Just heads up but the carb kits include incorrectly sized jets.

So should I just reuse my jets. At this moment the only things I know are messed up for sure are the floaters. I just figure I will rebuild the whole carb due to it sitting the past 20 years.

Awesome, thanks for that manual.
