65 cb77 stripped fuel screw on Keihin carb float bowl

Post by jakuza » Sun Aug 16, 2015 11:36 am

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Like a bonehead I overtightened the fuel release screw on my Keihin pw26 carb float bowl after it wouldn't stop leaking. Stripped the screw seat in the aluminum bowl. Can I rethread? Aluminum solder? Want to avoid replacing the whole bowl. Wondering if anyone has any experience rethreading/filling these forged aluminum screw seats.

Thanks!

Don' know, but as a last resort you could JBWeld the drain screw in and just remove the float bowl to drain the carb.
That would give you time to look for a bowl on E-Bay.
There's also a chance someone here might have a spare they would be willing to part with.

Contact member "harisuluv" on the sohc4.net forum.
They may be interchangeable with some 750 bowls, or even if they don't, he probably will have one anyway.

Thanks R100 and brewsky. Trying the JB Weld now and will let you know the results!
