Ca77 carb choke

Post by casamere » Wed Sep 23, 2015 3:49 pm

Can anyone advise me what the problem might be with the choke on my carb. It doesn't seem to make any difference when the arm is lifted and takes a long time to start sometimes flooding the engine with gas.

Properly tuned, the dream is cold blooded to start.

Assuming it is, try following the manual for startup instructions, i.e. prime the engine first by turning the ignition switch to the most ccw position and use full choke for three seconds. Then switch to on position, lower choke slightly, use slight throttle, then engage starter.

Once the engine is warm, this is no longer needed to start.

Start with fresh sparkplugs.

If this doesn't work, you have other issues, such as ignition, fuel, valves etc.

There is a link to the Operators manual in the "events/literature' section..

Hi brewsky, followed your instructions after closing the spark plug gap from .035 to .027 and it fired up a treat. Thanks for the tip.
