My 63 Dream won't start up without the use of starter fluid and won't idle on its own. Once the bike is started it will run great as long as your using the throttle slightly to keep it running.. Any suggestions. Gear

Sounds like low compression. Have you checked it?

No I have not checked it. I'll go buy a compression tester tomorrow. Do you by chance know what the range is supposed to be?

The manual says 99.5 PSI using the kick starter but anything over 60 should be run-able for an engine this age. My '67 needed new rings and the cylinders honed to get the compression back up.

Also could be a blockage in the slow jet in the carburetor.

I'll get the carborator expanded view out see where the slow jet is found and look into that as well. Thank you...
