Carb Overflow Tube

Post by ericmanuel » Wed Mar 09, 2016 6:39 pm

Somehow I have lost the overflow tube and fitting to the carb. I lost I mean was out riding the '64 305 and when I returned home realized I had a serious fuel leak. Determined that it was coming from where the overflow fitting once was. The tube and the fitting no where to be found.
A few questions:
1. Does anyone have a bowl they would be willing to sell to me?
2. Does anyone have a DIY solution they want to share?

Thanks
Eric

Eric

I have a spare but I'm in UK and will be away for a week or two.

Let me know if you cannot get one locally.

Measure the hole diameter get a short section of brass tube, probably from a model shop, and fit in, maybe use some heat on the bowl to allow easy fitting or use super glue.

Don't forget the height has to be correct, it would be easier to get another float bowl.

Sorry my mistake then, I thought it was just the external pipe missing.

If it is only the external pipe that is missing how come it is causing a 'serious fuel leak'

A fuel leak would need the brass pipe INSIDE the float bowl to fracture (not unknown) but if this has happened there would have been a fuel leak BEFORE the external pipe dropped off. Either way a new bowl should fix it.

Still looking for replacement float bowl.

I was such a dummy. If you make sure the float is adjusted properly it won't leak. To be honest this bike may have been without the overflow tube for sometime.

Thanks
