Ran great, now bogs down, choke makes no difference.

Overhauled the PW22 carb on 1967 Dream, fired up first kick. Bike ran great, idled great, revved great, sounded great! I went around the block at low speed, everything was like brand new. Then suddenly it died as I pulled into the driveway, I restarted with some difficulty, but once started it was bogging whereas it would not idle anymore without revving. Choke position makes no difference as to running/idle speed. NOTE: As the bike was warming up when I first started it, I noticed the choke made no difference up or down. Bike ran great though.

Fixing to tear into carb and check for plugged jets, trash, as the tank was on reserve and thought at first I had run out of gas. I read where Loud Mouse said the new Keyster gasket swells and he said to squeeze the float in a little. I will check for that too.

Because the bike ran so great then suddenly it started bogging, I'm assuming this is fuel related, but could something else suddenly be the culprit?

INFO: Fresh gas. Clean tank. No fuel overflowing. I am not smelling a lot of gas. Gas cap cracked. Plugs damp, but not fouled. Fuel flows freely to carb. Flows out of drain freely. Thanks.

Took carb off and inside was pristine. All jets/passageways clear like new. Cleaned it anyway, blew air through everything. Sits on workbench while owner reads and reads . . . LOL

What does that little flap do on the choke slide? Assuming it only opens when high air flows through the carb and the choke is closed? Still reading . . .

Will put back on tomorrow to see if it still does the bogging? If so, guess I'll start looking at electrical.

As you saw he did come over and the only visable faults were the KEYSTER parts which I replaced and set the float level.
Nice feller there!. .......................lm
