C72 fuel tank and tap removal

Post by Lockers » Tue Feb 13, 2018 12:53 pm

Hi all,

New bike for me - am I right in thinking the tap has to come off to allow tank removal? Can't see any other way!

I have the filter bowl off and am faced with what looks like a plate with holes for a peg spanner in - am I right to remove that and the tap will come off allowing the tank to clear the mounts.

BTW - balance pipe LOL. Who came up with that idea?!!

Simon

You don't have to take off the tap, just the tubes that connect to it.

Cheers G,

On mine the fuel pipe spigot on the tap points to the rear, meaning that it fouls the tank rear mount when sliding back to allow the tank rubbers at the front to clear. I can't slide the tank back far enough to allow the front rubbers to clear before the tap pipe spigot fouls the tank mount plate on the frame - hence I can't get the tank off. Here's a pic of one like mine - fuel outlet spigot points to the rear,

Should my petrol pipe spigot be pointing forward, perhaps? And, if so, how do I achieve that?

Cheers,

Simon

Problem solved...

You have to turn the bars to full lock... then the top yoke allows just enough clearance.

Doh! Well, at least there's progress!
