Racing at idle then dies.

Post by WrenchRust » Sat Jul 07, 2018 12:03 am

Ive been working on my CP77, off and on for years. Just put Charlie's ignition in it about a month ago. It's been running really well for the last couple of weeks. Even charges well, at 13.5 +/-. Then a couple days ago it stalled while riding it home from work. Now it doesn't want to start and idle. The last couple of weeks, it would start right up, I'd give it a touch of throttle until it was warm and then it ran well all day long. Now it doesn't want to start and if I get it to start, the idle will race up to 3 or 4k and then come down and then racer back up and stall out.

Suggestions?

Sounds like a combination of an air leak and fuel starvation.

How long does it take before it will start up again? Sticking float?

My first reaction while reading this thread was carb problems. Rusty
