LM, you've mentioned the FAQ being in the yellow sidebar before, but I have never seen a yellow sidebar on this forum.

Try clicking on one of the small pics at the top of the page....that should bring up a page with the yellow margins.

The FAQ in the yellow margin is the one LM is referring to

Well, lookee there – a yellow sidebar.

Years ago someone directed me to the 305 Forum when I was working on another CL. They led me directly to the Index Page, and I thought that was it. I stumbled on this Discussion Page last night when fooling with my tablet.

Jeez! Who knew?

Now, on to the FAQ that LM has mentioned several times so I can get edumcated. Perhaps I won’t sound like a total nincompoop in the future.

Perhaps.

You need to adjust the throttle cables so the slides lift at EXACTLY the same time off the bottom. The way we did back in the day(before fancy vacuum gauges and carb sticks) was as follows: Back off both throttle stop screws an equal number of full turns to get the slides all the way shut(keep track how much so you can turn them back in later). Pop the float bowls off and unscrew the main jet holders. With main jet holders out of the way you can see the tips of the needles, just barely out the bottom of the carb body. Now, work the throttle as you watch the needle tips to see which one moves first. If you can't see past the floats place two fingertips of your left hand on the needles and you can feel when they start to move. Adjust the cables as needed so they move off the bottom in unison. Put things back together, start it up and adjust the throttle stop & air screws. That's how we did it when they came out of the crate when they were new. Sounds like a lot of work, but it actually only takes about 15 minutes.
