CA77 PW22 tuning help requested

Post by garncarz » Sun Aug 09, 2020 4:09 pm

Starts with a 2 second push of the starter button. Pulls hard until about 1/2 to 2/3 throttle, then breaks up. Power loss, burble, burble. Worse with needle clip in position 1 or 2 but still problematic in position 4. Plugs black in all clip positions. 750' altitude. 210 lb rider. Fresh 91 octane gas. Valves adjusted .004". Tytronic electronic ignition. At this point, I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Revisit tour timing! I remember Ed stating that most carb gremlins were timing related ( saved me a lot of grief)....................D

My first problem was trying to think for myself and not listen to Ed's advice. Got a new set of OEM points and plate and ditched the e-ignition. New Motobatt AGM battery. Also installed a little thicker (3 mm) o-rings on both sides of the carb spacer. Runs great at all throttle positions now. Plugs are toasty tan. Life is good!
