Carb types.....

Post by brcree » Sun Jan 08, 2012 10:52 pm

I have acquired a 69 305 and am in need of a carb. My question is: what carbs will work on this bike. Are there any other carbs from other bikes that will work? Do all year carbs interchange?

Well....when I stated (305) that might have narrowed it down huh?......I can see this is going nowhere. Is there someone else that I can get any info out of?

The more info you provide, the easier others can answer your questions.

There are 3 different common 305 models, all with different carbs, so we need to know which one you have to answer your questions.

If you have a 305 Dream, then you need a PW22 (22mm) carb, with needles and jets for a 305.

You can make other carbs work, some here have used amal's, but you are probably better off to find a correct used one on e-bay or here on the sale/wanted list.

Throwing barbs at LM is probably eliminating your best source of answers for the tough questions.

Thanks Brew for a straight forward answer.........this is why I'm on this forum...to find out answers not to go through a maze to get one. Mouse could have given the same info you did.......I'm not trying to be a hard arse.....just need info man. This is my 5th bike restoration: 81 Yamaha xs 1100, 82 Honda cb 450, 76 Honda cb 750 cafe, 82 Suzuki gs 650, Yamaha 400 so...I'm not a complete Muppet when it comes to wrenching. Thanks again...this may help....eng. #: ca77e 1026348....and frame #: ca78 1026315. Didn't mean to get started on the wrong foot.
