Hello. I just had a question on rejetting for my 63 ca77. Rejetting is one area that I've kind of avoided the last two years ive owned this bike. Im in love with this bike so ive spent endless days restoring her to the best of my ability and shes running really well for the most part but sometimes I feel that she lacks some power on the top end and I'm wondering if rejetting is in order. I have replaced the original air filter with an aftermarket one that breathes more and I would imagine is leaning out the engine somewhere along the line. Im afraid that running a lean engine for too long will do some damage to my cylinders, pistons, and rings.
Can anyone please explain the symptoms of a too rich or too lean mix? How can I test for either too rich or too lean? I Ive gotten pretty good at setting the pilot jet to accelerate smooth and idle well but I'm not sure how to make proper adjustments to the needle jet and main jet. Which steps should I take in rejetting? Any walkthroughs and advice for the more knowledgeable would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks for all the help

ca77 rejettingYou can do a plug chop at wide open throttle to tell for sure.
Mine was fine with the stock 120 main jet (and needle in middle slot) even with aftermarket filter and opened exhaust. A 130 main comes in some rebuild kits and is way too rich. See chart in last post in this thread for my results. http://www.honda305.com/forums/dynojet- ... 86-77.html 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
