What did I just buy?

They're brand new.

There are no markings on the muffler besides a warning that they're for pre-1983 motorcycles.

Has anybody seen this set before? I haven't. Just wondering what the story is behind them.

They're brand new.

The headers and forward mounting holes look like they will line up perfectly. My '66 CA77 has mounting brackets back near the rear axle underneath but there's nothing on the new muffler to attach to. Not a big deal -- I'll make them fit.

There are no markings on the muffler besides a warning that they're for pre-1983 motorcycles.

Has anybody seen this set before? I haven't. Just wondering what the story is behind them.

I got them for $30, and the gamble paid off ;-)
Do you have a pic of the mounting brackets near the rear axle?
I don't see anything like that on mine.
Good find!

OK, I'm outside scratching my head... is there an easier solution to clamping down the exhaust besides ripping apart the crimped flange where the muffler meets the header? It doesn't make sense, but that's the only way I can see to transfer the big exhaust nut to the new pipe.

Do they make a 2-piece nut or something?

Is there any reason I shouldn't put them on my CA77? Are they rare to the point that I should offer them up to someone who needs them to finish their bike?

Nevermind, the exhaust doesn't fit. Boo ;-(

Maybe I can trade them for the right one...
