What's the trick for the rear axle?!?
And, yes, according to the parts diagram the axle is installed from the right side, but if you look at the photos in the service manual it is seen to be installed from the left side. I don't think there is a clear reason for it to be installed from either side and not the other as long as the spacers are placed correctly, which, from your pictures, seems to be true.

Re: Two weeks later...
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's installed from the wrong side.
Once again "THAT SAID" use vise grip pliers on the SPACER then turn/twist that axle.
The pic shows that the axle will come through the wheel so what's the big deal to realize that the axle is rusted/seized to the spacer??????????????. ..........lm

mopower wrote:Wrong side?!? How is that even possible? It looks right according to my manual. So you're saying that thing that arrow C is pointing to should twist separately from the axle or together? Haven't tried that yet.LOUD MOUSE wrote:The axle is installed from the wrong side. That said I recommend you put some/more penetrating fluid on the spacer and adjuster. Grip the spacer with vise grips and put a rod or something in the hole in the axle and make these parts move/twist/turn. Add what amount more of the liquid and continue moving the spacer on the axle and as you do apply out pull on the axle as you twist the axle. ........................lm
Thanks everyone for the tips.
Re: Two weeks later...
It's not a big deal and I appreciate all the advice and tips. I've just never taken one of these apart before so I have no idea what it actually looks like or what to expect. I don't have the parts manual, only the service manual. And the idea that you could actually install something as critical as an axle in backwards with no noticeable effect is so completely foreign to me that I didn't even think it was possible. Again, I'm not doubting you or your experience, I'm just a little freaked out that something could be completely ass-backwards and assemble and operate like normal.LOUD MOUSE wrote:YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
