CL-77 Offset cotters or not?

Rebuilding a spare engine and have it totally in pieces. Trans shifts OK and everything looks to be in working order, cept for the shifter pedal rod itself. Splines are MIA and need a new one.

Should I replace the cotters with the offset ones and also X the gears while I am in there?

Anybody have the parts? LM?

You need to check the dog engagement while cases are aprt to determine if you need offset cotters. I know that Fastfred on this site has both offsets available to sell.

Any links to actually measuring to see if you need the cotters? The dogs are definitely not fully engaged when shifted. That is easy to measure. Is there a correct way or clearances that work on these trans gears?

Sounds pretty typical. I don't know of any measurements for doing it. I just try to get maximum engagement, without any thing rubbing or sticking.
