CB72 clutch

Post by toastyhamster » Sat Jun 06, 2009 5:14 am

Hope somebody can help.

I'm about to fit the clutch cover, but I need a bit of help with a couple of the parts. The clutch centre has a part that slides into it and presumably there's a spring inside the clutch because this part when in place and pressed in springs out again. Does this sit against the clutch cover? There seems to be allowance for it on the inside of the case as I can see a place where it looks like it fits against - is there any washer or anything else that fits here? The parts diagram isn't great - I think I'm looking at part 13 (25571-259-010).

Also before I fit the case do I need to fit the oil filter or can this be done later (I'm assuming it can from the inspection plate). I'm aware that the infamous washer sits against the inspection cover but I don't have one - can any suitably sized washer be used or is it "special" in any way?

I'm trying to avoid missing something dumb and needing another gasket..

Thanks

The part you are reffering to goes on the outside if the clutch pressure plate, and rests on the inside of the clutch cover. You can do the oil filter after installing the cover, but it is much much easier to install before, as getting the chain on both sprockets, and the pin in the case isn't easy to do through the smallish hole. The washer is a very thin thrust washer, a regular washer will be too thick.
