Kick Starter Spindle

Post by ASG85 » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:44 pm

I am checking the transmission main shaft, countershaft, and kick starter spindle on a used transmission I have purchased to repair my CB77 Superhawk. I wanted to know if the kick starter spindle is designed with a slight curvature. I have checked both the one that was in my engine and the used one I purchased and they both are slightly curved.

If kick starter spindles are designed with this curvature, is the purpose to align all the gears either closer to or farther away between the main shaft gears and the counter shaft gears?

Does it really matter if the kick starter spindle is slightly curved? If not designed with the curvature.[/b]

Ruh-roh! Not the best. How good are you with an Oxy-Acetylene torch??? That puppy needs to be straight on.

... and welcome :)

Not good news, not good nor have a torch, I am still within the return policy of the purchase, so I will try that first and try to get a different one.........but my other main purpose for the purchase of trasmission was for replacing gears that were all chewed up, so I, at least have those.

Obviously, case is split, and now all cleaned up and will start to put back together.

Thanks for the welcome, changed profile to add location.
