Engine/transmission roar

Post by jbills » Sun May 15, 2011 8:31 pm

So I'm taking a short spin around the neighborhood this evening as the weather is awesome, when I noticed a distinct roar from the engine when under way. I pulled the clutch in to see if it might be the drive chain but it got quiet. I let out the clutch and gave it the gas and could hear the roar again. Doesn't sound as if it coming from the top end but from the transmission. Bearing roar of some kind? The bike has been sitting for many years but only has 7,000 miles on it. Anyone have any ideas?

needs to be looked at. dont run it. if the noise goes away with the clutch pulled in then thats the place to look 1st. maybe a broken bit from a spring? its all guesses till you check it out. good luck
