clutch cable length

i have a 1968 305, and the cable was missing to begin with, what length should i get? because i keep seeing two different cables.

Lter models use the shorter of the two cables.Don't recall the exact measurements.Longer one on early models went thru the side cover and then to the clutch adjuster.
