Crush washers in clutch pressure plate?

Post by Tinman » Mon Oct 29, 2012 5:21 pm

I disassembled my clutch and found between the clutch spring and pressure plate were what look to be crush washers, the type you would find on spark plugs. Looking at a parts breakdown of the clutch, it shows the bolt, flat washer, clutch spring and pressure plate. No additional washers.

By adding these washers, is this an old garage trick to add more pressure to the clutch when applied or is the parts breakdown just not showing them. Here's what I'm using for reference.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, but it's not a trick, it gives more pre-load to the spring.
Better buy new springs, it makes live easier at the lever,

Thanks Jensey, I figured as much, but I'm finding alot of little things the prior owner has done that is questionable.

Not being a fella sharp on clutch's, will new stock springs do or is there something better out there?
