Cb77 kick-start cover

Post by Ibaskins » Thu Mar 31, 2016 3:32 pm

I have a 69 superhawk and I've been trying to get the clutch to work. The lever pulled hard and the gears would grind when I tried to engage. I took apart the kick-start cover and noticed some slack in the adjuster. I got a new adjuster and I'm trying to put it back together and I noticed the adjuster hits the magneto when I pull the cable a little bit. I tried adjusting it but I don't get anymore slack out of the cable. Is this a common thing?

Is the 8mm ball bearing in on the end of the clutch rod?

Original author is Loudmouse...

Turn cable adjusters in all the way.
On right case loosen the bolt with a 10mm wrench.
Turn the large gray adjuster left/right a couple of times.
Turn it right to stop then back 1/8 inch.
Adjust the lever for apx. 3/8-1/2 inch slack. .............lm
