D; remove the switch and lube the shit out of it. work it back and forth. reinstall. probably good to go.

The switch is operated by a slotted extension of the shift drum (cam).

As the drum rotates it turns a brass contact inside the neutral switch.

Once you have released the two screws, you can pull the switch apart to check / clean it.
