CA77 Kick Spindle Bushing Notch/Slot?

Post by GeorgeP1111 » Tue Mar 08, 2011 5:40 pm

Ok, here's a dumb question.... What is the notch or slot in the Kick Spindle Bushing (#2 on the CA77 Diagram, #20 on the CB77) for? There is a matching slot in the upper engine case and I aligned the two of them today when I put the bottom back on my CA77 motor, but what is it's purpose? Oil feed for the bushing? Seems like if oil was the purpose they would have used a knock pin like they did in the bearings which would also be used to keep the bushing from turning (if that was a issue).

Anyhow, just thought I'd ask.

tnx

You better look again. There is supposed to be a 7x12 knock pin that goes into the upper housing to keep that bushing from turning. There's a knock pin for the bushing on the other end too. I'll have to check my housing again, but I'm pretty sure it is an oil feed.

Yup... Right you are. I checked my photos and knock pins on each end. It's there, I just forgot. I put all the knock pins in at the same time, then assembled the bottom end. When I was assembling the left case side, I remembered that slot and that was what prompted the posting.

Thanks for the "Wake-Up" notice :-)

No problem, I'll probably need a wakeup call before I'm done. I've already been given a reality check or two. I should be getting the used transmission I ordered shortly. Hopefully I'll remember how everything goes as I reassemble. The best advise I got was to take plenty of pictures.
