CB rear sprockets on a CL77

Post by Hank Dymale » Tue Nov 07, 2017 3:24 pm

Because I will only be using my scrambler on the back roads of Wisconsin, I would like to place a CB77 rear sprocket on my CL77. My CL77 has a DLS hub with the center measuring 3 1/4 inches across and 70 mm between bolt holes. I know from this forum that there are different rear sprocket sizes for the CL77. Does this apply to the Superhawks as well?

Question -- Will part # 41201-268-00 (for a 32 tooth Cb77 rear sprocket) fit my CL77 hub that I indicated above?

Thanks,
Hank

Rear sprocket

I'm pretty sure it will fit since the CB77 and late CL77 rear hubs are all but identical.

However going from the standard 37 tooth sprocket down to 32 teeth is a huge jump and you may end up with a bike that won't pull top gear at all. If you can find one I'd try for a 34 0r 35 to0th sprocket.

Part numbers for all the options of sprocket are in the back (Race Kit) section of the CB72/77 manual.

34 teeth is a standard sprocket for a late CB72 so might be easier to find, perhaps a used hand one from a breakers yard?
