How do you get the steering stem to slide out of the triple tree. I have removed the nut and washer and stem does not move.? The manual says that it falls right out, but the top of the triple tree will not move to allow a spanner wrench in to loosen the stem. Thank you.

I forgot to post that the bike is a 1968 Honda cl 350 KO.

triple tree
All the bolts have been removed and the top triple tree will not come off. I have soaked it and pounded and it does not move. The bike was sitting for 40 years, but I still cannot get the triple tree to move.

Thanks for all the help. I took a torch to it and it popped right off. I still cannot get the bottom fork bolt free. Each fork bottom has a Phillips screw holding it. Perhaps someone has removed the allen bolt and replaced it with a screw. I have used and impact screw driver, oil, rust remover, heat and it won't budge. I am going to try an air impact driver next.

Leave the bolt in the bottom of the fork in there. There is no reason for it to come apart, the part inside is considered to be part of the lower leg, no parts are listed separately. Disturbing it just makes another place for a future leak.
