I just acquried a new project from a friend. I believe it's a 64 or 65 CA78. I would appreciate any help I can get, as the model naming & numbering is a little confusing. The # on the engine is CA77E-400639, the number on the frame is CA78400650.
This will be my first bike project, I'm attaching a pic. The bike came with hundreds of new parts in boxes, as if someone bought all the parts to do a restoration in the late 70's and never got around to it. It looks like I've got 90% New Parts (except Engine & Frame).
The Odometer reads 22K Miles...is this alot of miles for a 305 engine???
I appreciate any help or advise.
Thanks,
Mark

                    What do I have?

CA78 is an US CA, nothing unusual/special. Engine/frame numbers that match from the factor are kinda rare so yours are close enough that it's most likely they are original to one another.
22K sounds like a lot, but not excessive if the bike was taken good care of and had the oil changed often.
Nice bike, good luck!
