Front brake hubs

Post by joeweir1 » Sat May 08, 2010 11:28 am

I have two different front hubs on the shelf for my CA77.One is slightly smaller across the opening for the outer and the outers are not interchangeable.I cannot remember if the smaller one came from a swap meet rim or I took it off a parts bike a few years ago.Top photo is like the one on my Dream now.Look at the photos.Let me know if you have any ideas on this.thanks

Interesting!. I have 3 front panels, one that came on my 66 and two I bought to replace it with. The original has a missing chunk out of the brake cable ears.
The only immediately obvious difference in the 2 different panels is one has a grease fitting for the brake shoe cam and the other does not, but I haven't dis-assembled them to look closer.
The parts book actually shows three different part numbers for the panel, two different ones for the hub itself, bearing retainer, dust seat, cap and speedometer gear box......but the serial number breaks do not coincide.
The only thing I know for sure now is that the design without the grease fitting fits a 1966.
