Frame price???

Post by Downunder dream » Mon Oct 28, 2013 5:13 am

Hi guys,
I just have a quickie for you.
I have a 1960 dream frame with '65 and later parts on it. Including a 305, 65 loom, tank, shock mounts, one broken, ect. ect.
Are the 1960 frames worth more than later ones??
I've been offered my '60 frame as a swap for a later frame and shock mounts.
Is this a fair trade???
For me to build this bike back to the 1960 spec is too expensive as I'm in Australia, but still want to build one to cruise on.
Cheers guys!!!!

I have two 1960 Dream projects. One is a US spec 305, the other a domestic model imported to Europe with turn signals and flat bars. To me they are both interesting but only because I have most of the bits to complete them and it is nice to own the earliest / oldest of something.

A 1960 frame would be of value to someone who had the matching parts but I'm not sure if it has value on its own. If you were down the road from me I would willingly swap you a later Dream frame for it

i'm certainly not a purist. nor a dream expert. but if you're just building something to ride, then build what you've got. don't worry about the details. eventually, the frame you think you need (or want) will come along, and it will be serendipitous. Until then, ride it until the wheels fall off.
