Recommendations for CB77 Seat Needed

I'd guess that the reason you've had no response to this is because nobody can confidently give you a definitive answer, certainly I can't.
Here in the UK I think Honda UK had big stocks of unsold bikes and we didn't see that many with the alloy forks, I don't recall ever seeing one with the hunped seat that wasn't a later import from the U.S. I don't think we saw the folding footrests either.

If you can't find out for sure which seat is / was correct for your particular bike, why worry? Just fit the seat you have or the one YOU prefer, it's your bike and your choice.

If there actually was a definitive answer somewhere, I would have found it. I know there isn’t, so I’ve asked for opinions. Hopefully, those would be based on the experiences of those owning ‘66 models or with more knowledge of them and the seat design change than I possess. The bike came to me without a seat and I have no real preference for either of the two designs. I like them both and either would work fine for me. I only want to restore the correct part.

I have a 1966 cb72 and the seat base is about 2" longer and 1" wider than the earlier ones.
A friend of mine had a 1967 cb72 with the same long seat no hump. they have the same brackets as earlier ones and are interchangeable, the later one gives more bum room for the pillion passenger.

I have one of those wider, longer seats fitted to my 64 CB77. I know it isn't the correct one for that year but being bit wider (and I suspect with deeper foam) I find it more comfortable for my aging backside which is also about two inches, at least, wider than my 1964 version.

I aslo have a correct early seat which only needs a bit of restoration work and this is on my (lengthy) to do list. I would probably only fit this 'correct' seat for a 'show' event and as mine isn't a 'show' bike haven't got round to it yet.

Here in the UK this version of the seat is sometimes referred to as the 'violin case' seat because of its shape.
