ignition switch

Post by danielmoto » Mon Jan 02, 2012 5:57 am

could i have advice on the removal of the ignition switch/barrel removal from the frame, looks like it has a ring that maybe screws off, thought i better ask as it looks like its been removed in the past via a screw driver and hammer combo and as it works fine i dont wont to damage it. (appologies if this is a dumb question as ive tried searching but found no answers and i believe its better to ask and look a prat than to not ask and damage something cheers danielmoto. Its on a cb72 .

I think I get what you're asking. My CB77 was the same way-- it doesn't want to come out sometimes in the painted frame. The ring on the front unscrews from the barrel and the barrel itself pulls out from the frame straight. DO NOT TWIST IT. There is a little alignment tooth that stops it from rotating when the key is turned. Find a way to tap it out from the rear. Take care, though, it has an epoxy/plastic back side.
