That coil is only 2.4 ohms. What'sstock spec on your original? If it's close, then no worries. Most coils for points are around 5 ohms. Lower impedance coils will tend to draw more current that hi impedance coils and will get hotter.


You will probably be OK but better to get a coil from an older SOHC 4.

CB175/160/200 coils should all work too.

My old coil was only pulling 4ohms. I've been riding around a bit with the new coil now and haven't experienced any problems, but that was on short rides. When the weather gets a little nicer and I take it for an extended ride, I'll have to re-check it. Thanks for the reminder.
