Dead battery and tender

This morning after my ride I hooked by Deltran battery tender to my battery. Unfortunately, six hours later I have a dead battery and battery tender. It turns out I had left the ignition on. The battery is approx 24 months old and is usually hooked up to my battery tender after riding.

Any thoughts on what may have happened ?

Battery tenders produce very lo current - usually less tan 1 amp - Your bike with ignition on pulls far more maps - Sp eventually the battery went dead.

How do you know the battery tender is dead? Did you try to charge it with the ignition off? The battery should be OK, just dead and it will take the Battery Tender 12 hours or so to recharge it. Make sure the water level is OK if it's a wet battery.

Battery tenders cannot be used to recharge a completely dead battery.

The battery tender can be checked with a 12VDC light bulb, a 12VDC test light or by flicking the positive and negative leads against each other and see if you get a small spark.

The deltran "reads" the battery first and wont light a bulb. (A standard charger will).
Use a voltmeter before and after you connect the charger.
