CA78 ignition wire replacement

Is there a practical way to replace dry rotted ignition wire and still keep the original coil? If not, does anyone know the electrical specs on the OEM coil. Thanks!

Basically a coil is a coil is a coil. Mine ran with a automotive coil and the plug wires spliced together. Look for an early 350-500-750 coil. I used one from a 500/550 - wires are about the right length and it will fit in the frame.

Are original Honda wires solid (copper, SS, etc.) core or carbon core? Resistor or not? Thanks.

I bought new 7 mm copper core wire and non-resistor plug caps and spliced them in at the coil. Works like a charm. The ignition system puts out EMI bigger than a tactical nuke, but that's part of the charm.
