Sarals good to see I'm not the only one riding.

Update!!

Post by DreamGirl305 » Wed Jul 23, 2014 11:45 am

Hey guys Kate here again. With all the help and suggestion everyone has given me, I decided to take on the job myself. After cleaning the carb in a solution for a day or two it is fully clean and I have the air filter installed. I also cleaned out the gas tank (vinegar did the trick) the rust is pretty much gone and I'm getting a fuel filter in the mail

I put the carb back on and lubed the throttle capable there's some slack but it's not as much as if like. Might just be an old Handel peice.

Ok carbs in air filter(stock!) in and I started to kick start it and after a few tries it started right up. It was very very very loud and at this point I'm not fimiliar with sync the bike. So I played with the throttle screw on the carb to lower the sound to my liking

Took it out for a ride and all the gets are smooth the throttle sticks a little less then before but now there's popping sounds very faint pop sounds when I give it has and change gears. Had a neighbor who said he knows how to sync it since he said single carb should be a breeze without a tachometer to help adjust rpm. When he played with both the air and throttle screw the bike shut off and now it will not start. Feeling overwhelmed but will not give up.
Any pointers will be highly appreciated. I feel like I'm so close yet so far.
Sorry for the short story.
Katie.

Sorry for the typos. The gears are smooth and the throttle cable is lubed. It's a matter of starting the bike syncing the carb. Should I just take it all apart and do it again?

Thanks guys
Katie. Pics to come soon making a flickr account

First you don't "sync" a single carb. About all you can do is adjust the idle and air screw.

I bothers me you seem to be riding it WITHOUT a fuel filter. If you are, all bets are off. Get ready to remove and clean the carb again. The fact that it started fine now won't start is a good sign the carb is full of "junk"

Pull the spark plugs and look at their color. This will tell what is happening with the air/fuel mixture.

Probably should just buy a new throttle cable.

Cadman. The throttle cable is brand spankin new the air filter is brand new stock. I already took the carbs out thinking that there dirty but there not ( bought carb spray). I'm telling you it was running fine once my neighbor played with the screws the bikes indulged down and died. Every since then I recharged the battery and turned the throttle screw to the right until it stopped turning then 1-1/2 turns. Don't know much about the air screw. I know that that's were the problem is. Everything is clean I just don't know about the popping noise WHEn it was running and I don't know why it isn't running.

Where do I start?I inspected-the carb felt air when kick starting the bike.

Just don't know where to begin

Katie

Welcome back!

You've already proved two things. 1. You're smarter than your mechanic, 2. You're smarter than your neighbour.

Humor us and pull off the pipe from the carb.
Turn the fuel on. Does fuel run out? If not the problem is in the tap or tank. If fuel flows the 53076-268-000 is in the carb or somewhere else (flat battery / plugs)

Take out the plugs. Photograph each one and post the photos here. Are they black, wet? Pictures help us help you.

There is no magic here just methodical investigation.

Rule number 1. Don't let anyone offer help until you understand that they rally do know what they are doing. 2 get a manual and read it twice........
