couple if ignition questions.

1. What is the line scored on the end of the points shaft?
2. How do I find the exact high point on the points shaft?

Yeah I know - Groan! What a rookie.

To my knowledge ...

- the 'line' determines which way up the points cam is inserted into the cam sprocket. Potentially it could be 180 deg out.

- The "high" point is actually an area of constant radius.....

The line on the points shaft is to help determine how to set the cam chain when rebuilding the engine. When the crank is on the "T" mark, the line should point straight up on the point shaft as well as the marker indicator on the little gear in the middle of the crankshaft. When both of those are pointing up you can link the cam chain right above it.

If you make the same mistake I did, if you don't follow that procedure your valves will not work properly and you'll have no compression :p
