Big disappointment

Post by SMBH » Fri Jan 10, 2014 5:31 am

Just had a email from Michael Stoic to say the electronic ignitions are no longer available.

So has any one any idea regarding this for a 1964 CB77 http://www.elektronik-sachse.de/ZDG3/HO ... all_en.htm

I will email them to get the cost and details.

Great product. The timing is done off of the crank. The old advance system is not used. I believe they changed ownership due to a death, but I imagine the products still should be as good as before.

Thanks for the replys and PM's.

Im undicided what electronic ignition to go for the Probe or the Saches, I understand you have to have a rectifier/regulator for the Sachse ignition now wiring up a R/R is not my thing if I do not know what colors fit what.

As I live in thee UK can any one tell me would this A REG ONE here work ok and what colored leads go were http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyelectrex.htm I understand I would need a single phase R/R

Thanks.

SMBH,

Go here for a simple Regulator/Rectifier that replaces the stock Honda rectifier, looks like an easy swap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Voltage-Regulat ... 1054154043

I've installed the regulator mentioned in the previous post as well as installing the Sachse unit. All very worthwhile, made the bike trouble free - well trouble free until I fried the original unit since I did not first install the R/R! Volker Sachse kindly replaced my control unit, but because of the problematic shipping, it took awhile and cost almost $70 to return the damaged unit (damn you Fedex). BTW, Volker Sachse, the proprietor, died in a motorcycle accident and the company was being run by his wife, but it may have been purchased since then. He was a good dude, and will be missed.
The installation of the R/R and the Sachse unit is not hard, but does take some following of directions. If your interested, let me know and I can help. Your bike will never run better!

Regards,
Jack

Almost forgot, Charlie's Place (http://www.charlies-place.com) has a much cheaper, non adjustable electronic ignition for both Dreams and Hawks. Charlie's wants a R/R installed as well, but his unit is simpler to install and quite reliable, but no changing of the advance curve (not much of an issue to most of us). His website says he's currently out of stock, but you can send an email to get a notice when he has them again.

Thanks for that aerojack7654, I have been on Charlies place mailing for some time now regarding the elec ignition, I mailed Volker Sachse they are not doing any business for the time been so im left with the Probe ignition, only had this CB77 for some 2 months now so looking forward to riding it in the summer as im one old guy with some 54 years of riding I will not be doing many miles on it so I may go for the Probe a lot of folk on here have said good things about it so I will hold on for a few weeks after all it's not the best of weather here in the UK the moment.

I will get back to you if I hit problems.

Thank you for replying.
