Thanks for your comments-really helpful.
Phil, I'm in same situation as you with too much advance.
I found pieces of neoprene on last oil change and suspect they came off the advance pins.
I think I will order a Sachse unit along with Kohler regulator and eliminate the troublesome advance mechanism.

Hi Steve

If you do go for the Sasche system email them and ask about getting it programmed with a custom curve. Explain that the original Honda figures quote 45-48 degrees full advance and see what they can do.
When you look at their stock ignition curves its really only #9 that gets close for these models.
Obviously they have come up with a selection that covers as many bikes as possible.

Let us know what happens,

Thanks for all the feedback fellas, it sounds like the Sasche system is the one to go for.
