Broken primary wire on ignition coil on CA77

Post by catterar » Wed Jul 06, 2016 5:09 pm

Got the bike started for the first time in over 2 years. Ran for about 3 minutes then died.
I discovered this broken wire on the coil. Can I solder it or do I need a new coil?
Second question is there a good source for coils?
Thanks,
Bob

broken coil wire

Had the same problem with mine. I stripped the wire back, wrapped around a very small sheet metal screw, screwed it in to coil and then soldered. Worked fine.

Thanks for the feedback Mike.
I'll be out in the shop with the soldering gun tomorrow afternoon.

You should be able to find a low cost replica coil on ebay I would expect. There are lots of new coils out there that have become available over recent years.
