What is the best battery for Cl77

Post by StillNDADIRT » Sat Aug 27, 2016 11:47 am

What is the best battery for a CL77? I bought a new battery from Advance out of convenience. It barely fits in the battery box and it does not hold charge, looking to upgrade.

Searching for a new battery

Stop by your local independant motorcycle shop and ask. There are several brands, but they must be specific to your model and year.
If your battery is not holding charge, you may want to check the charging system. Or if you use a tender, is it compatible with the battery you have? For battery type go to your local motorcycle shop and ask. Model and year specific. You can find it online at BATTERYMART.COM for example, and it may be cheaper than the bike shop.

CL's don't need much of a battery. if it fits and your charging even a little bit, you should be good. if It's going dead while in the bike, thats a shorted rectifier. sometimes batteries are just plain bad out of the box, but that is really rare.
Good luck

It really does look like it needs a new rectifier. I have been looking to see which is the best to get but have not found it

If you want a good rectifier for a cl77,get an oem honda. If you want to go solid state, I have have had good luck with the one's from Beatrice cycle, DRATV. they are easy to bolt in to the original mount bracket, have a wire pigtail with the correct colors, and work great. about $14.
Good luck
Randy
