Just found the 305 forum, actually, today's the first time I thought about looking for info on 305's

I've been riding since about 9 - 10 years old, bought my '66 305 when I was 16 and put it on the road. Rode several years off and on, then baught a street bike, GS1100EZ in '83. the old 305 gbot parked under the shed since then.

Haven't though about it much 'til the other day watching a special on the Sturgis Bike rally and looking at the old board track racer themes custom bikes there got me to thinking i ought to bring the 305 home and do a restoration on it.

When I bought the 305 from my then girlfriends dad, it was pretty cobbed up with ape hangers on it. I always like the cafe look and after the first year or so, I sorta tore it down and rebuilt/painted it into a more cafe style. Used to have a blast on it. The last year or so I rode it, I had made a 2 into header and had converted the carbs to methanol. It was a pretty racy bike, used to give the teenagers around the area that had new 600's a fit on the old country roads around home.....at least up to about 120 anyway.

I'll get back down to the farm in a couple weeks and take some pictures of it and see what info you guys can tell me about it.

I do remeber it was quite advanced for it's time, pent roof, hemi, combustion chambers, leading axle front forks and such. Seems like the most trouble I had was with the points and charging system. 1
