CB77 Alloy fork bridge (top yoke)

Post by rbaselt » Sun Apr 19, 2009 3:53 pm

Does anyone know the difference between the 3 part numbers given in the parts manual tor the top yoke? They are 53230-268-040, 050 and 060. Are they interchangeable? Or is there a difference in the spread between the forks for the various production years? Thanks, Randall

Hi Randall

According to the CMSNL website :-

53230-268-040 is superseded by 53230-268-810 and is for upto serial No 0021362
53230-268-050 is uptp serial No 1030129
53230-268-810 is upto serial No 0021362

So the 1st and 3rd must be interchangeable and I think ( just my opinion ) that the
middle part number is probably the one with the "loop"for mounting the speedo/revcounter
if its not fitted into the headlamp shell.

I await being corrected ...

cheers

Oops ..I forgot .. they also list 53230-268-060 and its cheaper than the others .. they don't quote
any applicable serial numbers.

The only possible difference I can think of is for when the CB72/77s went to the alloy fork leg, so
is it too logical to assume the 060 number is for that model ?
I checked the CB450 parts fiche but the top yoke looks completely different .. sorry.

Phil,
Thanks for the assistance. The CB72/77 had (at least) two fifferent fork sliders, with different diameters, and there were correspondingly different steering stems. So I figured the fork bridges might be set up differently also. I'm doing a custom bike and don't have a serial number to work from. --Randall

Randall, what forks do you have? Steel or aluminum sliders? Are you looking for a stock top clamp?
