low handlebar measurements

Post by big-b » Thu Feb 25, 2010 9:52 pm

I bought a new low handlebar from Classic honda restoration. Can you tell me the width of the stock low bar and also the location of the holes for running the wires. Pictures would be a great help.

Thanks,

Brian

Well I got the same bars and just went for it free hand. I centered the bars and set the angle and drilled the center hole. After I drilled the hole I run the bit in at an angle and ovaled the hole slightly to leave a non- sharp edge, and also made it easier to feed the wires through. Then I mounted the handle clamps even and marked for the switch and throttle bracket wires. Then cut the ends last. I remember it being around an inch maybe alittle more cut off each side. Sorry I dont have the exact measurements your looking for. I quess I winged it. Good Luck !!

Thanks, i took the hole measurements off my old high bar. Still looking to get the overall width of a stock low bar so i can cut mine to the right size.

Retro Bikes faithful reproduction bars show them at 24" overall width. I measured mine at about 25". I would think any where in that range would be good. But 24" looks to be the stock width.
