Are Superhawk shocks different then Scrambler shocks?

Post by big-b » Tue Mar 09, 2010 8:27 am

I just bought a superhawk and it looks like the chain was rubbing on the right shock. There's a big cut mark in the shock. Just wondering what my options are for replacement. There are a few scrambler shocks on e-bay so i figured maybe i could by one of those and swap out the internals.

Thanks,

Brian

Different lengths and bottoms at the spring adjuster .
The SH has the spring higher on the tube to clear the guard and sprocket. ............lm

Thanks LM. the bottom spring adjuster part is what i need to replce. I'll keep my eye out for a superhawk shock. Were the earlier SH shocks different then my 66/67 SH?

With special tools the early ones can be taken apart.
The later ones have a CRIMPED top which can't be removed unless ya cut the top off. ....lm

LM
Thanks for that piece of wisdom on the shocks. I always wondered why the SH had the spring higher up. Obvious if you know the answer - which I clearly didn't. Another expensive mistake avoided.

Many thanks

Funny! I was going to ask the very same question! Now I know.

Thanks, Phil
