Hi, New Guy Here.
Just yesterday I bought a 1965 Superhawk. Rough isn't the word for it, I should have left it where it sat, but you know the story. Pretty complete but seized with water in the left cylinder. Paint is shot, tires rotted, rusty tank side panels, footpeg brackets welded, etc. etc.
The good--inside of tank is OK, it is all there with the exception of the seat cover, and the mufflers are real nice. They are worth more than I paid for the bike. Plus the guy had the transferable registration from 2002. There didn't appear to be water in the crankcase so maybe I am lucky.
It was in interesting find. I was on my way to the MOTO GIRO EAST event and while at a rest area with a trailer load of old little bikes a guy came up to me and started talking, then asked if I had any interest in an old CB77.. I called him a couple weeks later and now it sits in my garage.
I am on a quest for the bikes I had while a kid, and #3 was a '63 Honda Superhawk. I remeber I paid $100 more for that one in 1970 than I did the one I just bought. It was metal flake purple with ape hangers and a four foot sissy bar. Now I need to find that 1972 Jawa 250....hence the name 17again!
I will have lots of questions as I get into this bike. My mechanical skill is no where near the level of my enthusiasm so bear with me.
Not sure how to post pics, but I could email a few to someone if they could get them on.
Thanks!
Quick Introduction
Welcome to our madness. Once you get this bike going and enjoying the country in your area, I'll envy you madly. I have in-laws in the Birkshires, west Mass. and have considered installing a bike there for when I'm there so I can get away from the mother in law.
For pics you will have to shrink them to load on this forum. Ask if you need help. Nice find on the hawk, regardless of the condition. RW
