A new one: I wish you Happy New Year 2011

Post by sfcrgs » Wed Dec 29, 2010 1:01 pm

I discovered this forum with great pleasure.
The Superhawk is almost unknown in Europe ...
I would like your advice to buy a CB 77 or CL 77.
I live in France, and I'm looking for a very long time to restore a motorcycle (if possible in UK).
Do you know where to find this machine, and how to import this bike from USA ?
Thank you for your advice.
Sorry for my English ...

Welcome to the forum!

There are a number of members in the UK that should be able to show you where to look for a CB or CL77.

Good luck on your search.

Je m'excuse pour mon garçon de l'école française; all shall be in English from now on!

You'll need to continue watching eBay on a weekly basis, at the very least, and change the Sort by (Critères de tri) to Time left: newly listed (Durée: nouveaux objets) within the drop-down menu on the 'Results' (résultats) page. You'll get many duplicated results, especially if you choose to search 'Worldwide', but importing an older bike from another European country rather than shipping from the US may be a better route to follow. I'm in Spain some of the year, and I keep my CB77 here; for that reason I bought mine from an eBay.co.uk seller and brought it to Mallorca as part of my "adventure".

Bonne chance!

Hi

Welcome to the Forum! It is possible to import from the USA but it is quite expensive. I have done it myself with a CB160 but it would be better to use the money to buy a machine nearer to you in the EU. The only thing that you gain buying in the US is less rust. with shipping the cost is about the same.

eBay UK has CB72s and 77s for sale - maybe 2 per month. Also they occasionally come up in magazines such as Classic Bike and "Old Bike Mart" in UK http://www.oldbikemart.co.uk/

I have an electronic subscription to OBM via www.Zinio.com

If you do get hold of a Super Hawk (CB77) - (they were not called that in UK as the name belonged to the Humber car company), David Silver carries good stocks of spares and ships all over the world. http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB77-305/

Happy hunting!!

Thank you for your advice.
Great news for me :
I found a CB72 in Germany to 1000 miles from home.
(I'm looking for a carrier to return the bike in France)
There is a complete restoration as it is today in a state of total wreck ...
If I find how to put photos on the forum, I would do that.

I'm having a lot of questions for you ... because I've never seen a CB 72/77 ... but I am very familiar with the 750 Laverda 40 years (it's just the same)
And to start: what measures of redress for pistons:
0.25>> 0.50>> 0.75>> 1.00 is this correct?

Regards

Bertrand
