Fred and others say that a good fix is to get a machined bushing to take up the wear of the grease-fitting bolt ("step arm fixing bolt"). Mine is sloppy as all getout.
While in neutral, the shifter end can move 20mm radially and 8 mm perpendicular to the bolt. Grease oozes out because there's so much slop.
Has anyone come up with a fix other than replacing both parts? I'll ask Nick at Ohio Monday when I call in for some more parts quotes. A bushing would probably require turning the shifter ID.
The Quicken-keeper refuses to let me buy that $5000 mill/lathe :(
Addendum ............................
ID of shifter bolt hole = .675 (within spec)
OD of bolt = .665 (outer segment), .655 (inner segment) ... no spec
.010 - .020 is way too much, so I may just buy a new bolt.
