That's a CL right side case.
The pics look like it was assembled from parts, check the frame and engine numbers.
If they're mismatched or too far apart you're looking at parts bike value.

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it. I should have checked the numbers. Oh well I can always go check it out again. So you say if they're mismatched it would be good to offer a parts bike price. The guy said he had it running a couple of years ago and the engine turns over so getting it running again wouldn't be too tough. What would be a fair offer for it? Sorry but I'm new to the CBs.

Thanks again!

BSA? No, "Bitsa!"

Post by FIREMEDIC » Sun Sep 11, 2011 7:07 pm

as in, "bits of this & that!"

The price is already in the parts bike category as someone who wants a complete bike & collects these will be looking for something to either use himself or to part out. We can't all find $50 complete bikes w/papers every day!

To a seller, $$ is king. Bring $400 in $100's & have the rest in $20's. Wave him the $400 in hundred dollar bills & he probably hasn't had anyone make a credible offer, so if he's hungry he will likely accept it or counter & you can decide how much you are willing to pay. In this market, don't be afraid to walk, you can always leave him your phone # & wait for the call, " I accept your $." if the deal doesn't work, so what, there will be others.

The kickstarter looks like my CL77 instead of the current CB77.

Although it looks like a 'bitza' the parts appear to come from the same period. Front forks (aluminium sliders) 'lip-up' seat and speedometer all point to later model so it shouldn't be regarded as a mongrel when you've fixed it up.

In the UK that bike would cost £800-1000 so I'm quite envious!

Grab it and enjoy the adventure!
