Hi Malcolm
Yes - I'll be at Mallory Sunday but not with the bike unfortunately as It still needs a little TLC
Will you have your bike there ? I don't see many around to pick up tips so would be great to take a look if so.
Cheers
John

Hi Malcolm/Gordon

Just got back from Mallory after a great day in the sun - some fantastic machinery and what a great noise! I really must get the bike rideable soon!

I've found some contact details for Bernard Saunders who seems to know CB72's well (as I really want to find a knowledgable soul to work on it) and he isn't too far away from us so am going to see if he can help. Any other suggestions welcomed? Is it worth joining the VJMC?

I've sourced a gear lever shaft now (as splines shot) so I need this fitting and also need to fit a better gear linkage as there's far too much play in it. Also thinking of refitting a kickstart to make starting a more dignified affair!

Gordon - the bike is a 250 and looks to be quite a nice motor (had it set up and dyno'd after buying) but the clutch drag (perhaps wrong cable/poor adjustment) combined with the sloppy linkage and damaged splines means getting a gear is a dark art! Your pics are great - would welcome any tips :)

I'll keep this updated as currently very motivated to get it fixed soon

John
